The art collection is the center of attention in this residence. Even though, it’s a museum quality collection of fine modern and contemporary art, the illumination techniques and luminaires keep a residential feel throughout the apartment.

High color rendition, warm LED, adjustable downlights with multiple optics are focused on the artwork. The LED sources were selected with the purpose of preserving the artwork and low energy consumption. Flexibility was a key component of the design, for a constantly evolving art collection that can change in scale and quantity. Not each piece was intended to be illuminated, nor was the purpose to create a line of downlights along each wall, something that would compromise the low key residential feeling of the apartment.

The lighting throughout the apartment helps to tell the story of the artwork, while creating an intimate and relaxing atmosphere. A dimming control system with integrated motorized shades, not only gives the residents pre-set lighting scenes from a normal day setting to entertainment, but also is mindful of the preservation of the art collection.
